"And so it comes to this," thought Smoky the Bear as he readied the flamethrower. | The cool barrel of the gun felt just right in his hands. Smoky had an uncanny feeling that he had done this before, in a dream maybe, or even a past life. Finally he would be free from the brambles of slavery that snared him for so many years. | He had been waging war on groups of ungrateful campers for years, but had never felt the moment for retaliation was quite right. However, this day proved to be different. He had | planned everything just right. A group of drunk college kids were camping a few miles from the rangers' station, and a large family barbecue was happening on the other side. "They'll never know what hit 'em," said Smoky. He trudged toward the | campsite, chewing his cigar. The small pilot light of the flamethrower flickered in his murderous eyes.
